Nicola was born in Surrrey, England in 1959. She lived in Australia and Japan, drawing and making collage from an early age. In 1974 she moved to the U.S. and attended Silvermine Artists Guild, in Norwalk, Connecticut where she studied life drawing and printmaking techniques.
Newton completed her studies at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts and Tufts University.
Her work has been exhibited at Boston's City Hall, Plymouth State College, AVA gallery, Lebanon NH, and numerous smaller galleries in New England.
In 2006 her work was shown in the New Hampshire Painting in the 21st Century Exhibition.
Nicola  is a member of the United South End Artists in Boston, MA.
